About the Platform

Q: What is Fugly Toenails™?

Fugly Toenails™ is a telemedicine platform operated by JAWS Podiatry and created by Dr. Abraham Wagner, DPM — a Double Board-Certified Podiatric Surgeon based in Hollywood, Florida. The platform helps eligible Florida patients start with eligibility screening and provider review for fungal toenail and foot-related conditions. When clinically appropriate, a Florida-licensed podiatric provider may recommend prescription treatment, supportive care, or another next step.

Q: Is this a real medical service?

Yes. Fugly Toenails™ is not an automated prescription system. Eligible cases are reviewed by a Florida-licensed podiatric provider within JAWS Podiatry. Prescription treatment is issued only when clinically appropriate, after provider review and medical eligibility assessment.

Q: Who is Dr. Abraham Wagner, DPM?

Dr. Wagner is a Double Board-Certified Podiatric Surgeon specializing in minimally invasive and cosmetic podiatric surgery. He is the founder of JAWS Podiatry, located at 3700 Washington Street, Suite 403, Hollywood, Florida 33021, and the creator of the Fugly Toenails™ telemedicine platform. He developed this service after years of clinical practice caring for patients with fungal nail and foot-related concerns.

Q: Is this service available in my state?

Fugly Toenails™ telemedicine services are available only to eligible adults who are Florida residents and physically located in the State of Florida at the time of evaluation. Patients outside Florida are not eligible for telemedicine evaluation or prescription treatment through this platform and should consult a licensed provider in their own jurisdiction.

Q: Is my information private?

Yes. Health-related information submitted through Fugly Toenails™ forms is handled with HIPAA-compliant safeguards. Information may be reviewed by Florida-licensed providers, authorized clinical staff, and authorized support personnel involved in eligibility review, telemedicine evaluation, treatment coordination, follow-up, and patient support. Fugly Toenails™ and JAWS Podiatry do not sell personal health information.

Eligibility & Evaluation Process

Q: How does the evaluation work?

Start with the eligibility screener. It confirms basic requirements such as Florida residency, physical location in Florida at the time of evaluation, age eligibility, and potential symptoms that may require in-person or urgent care.

If you meet the basic criteria, you may proceed to the Start Evaluation form, where you can provide contact information, health-related details, photos, and required consents. A Florida-licensed podiatric provider within JAWS Podiatry may review your case and determine whether telemedicine care, prescription treatment, supportive care, or another next step may be appropriate.

The Professional Virtual Evaluation is an optional paid live telemedicine consultation that costs $150 USD.

Q: Do I need to send photos?

Photos may be required or requested as part of the evaluation process. Clear, well-lit photos of the affected nail(s) or skin area can help support provider review. If photos are needed, our team will guide you through how to submit them securely.

Q: How long does the evaluation take?

Timing may vary depending on whether your submission is complete, whether photos or additional information are needed, and provider availability. Most complete submissions are reviewed within 1–3 business days. Our team will contact you with appropriate next steps after review.

Q: What happens if my condition requires in-person care?

If the reviewing provider determines that your case may require in-person evaluation or treatment, our team will advise you on appropriate next steps. Not all cases are suitable for telemedicine care. If you experience severe pain, drainage, spreading redness, warmth, fever, or signs of an active infection, you should seek in-person medical care or urgent medical attention.

Q: Can I use this service if I've already been diagnosed?

You may share any prior diagnosis or treatment history during your intake. A Florida-licensed provider will still review your case and determine whether telemedicine care, prescription treatment, supportive care, or another next step may be appropriate.

Treatments & Prescriptions

Q: What treatments do you offer?

Fugly Toenails™ may offer provider-reviewed treatment options depending on the condition, severity, medical eligibility, and clinical appropriateness. These may include an oral + topical prescription approach, topical prescription treatment such as Clear Nail Solution with Ciclopirox 8%, supportive products, or other next steps when clinically appropriate. A Florida-licensed provider determines whether prescription treatment is appropriate after eligibility screening and provider review.

Q: Do prescription products require a prescription?

Prescription products require a valid prescription issued by a licensed provider. You cannot purchase prescription products directly through the website. Prescription treatment is issued only when clinically appropriate, after eligibility screening, provider review, medical eligibility assessment, and approval by a Florida-licensed provider. Some treatment kits may also include supportive products.

Q: What is Pulse Therapy?

Pulse Therapy is an intermittent oral antifungal dosing approach that may be considered for eligible patients after clinical review. It uses planned treatment cycles and rest periods. The specific medication, dosing schedule, duration, and monitoring are determined by the provider based on the patient’s condition, medical history, contraindications, clinical eligibility, and applicable laws and regulations. Pulse Therapy is not appropriate for every patient.

Q: Do I need lab work before starting treatment?

For some oral antifungal prescriptions, baseline or follow-up laboratory testing may be required or recommended depending on your medical history, medications, risk factors, and the provider’s clinical judgment. If lab work is needed, our team will communicate appropriate next steps during the evaluation process.

Q: Do I need a nail biopsy before starting treatment?

Not always. The need for confirmatory testing depends on your individual case and provider review.

A Florida-licensed provider may consider clinical presentation, photos, medical history, prior treatment history, and other relevant factors when determining appropriate next steps. Nail biopsy or confirmatory laboratory testing, such as fungal culture, KOH preparation, or PCR, may be recommended if:

The presentation is atypical or does not clearly suggest a fungal cause.

Nail changes may be related to a non-fungal condition such as psoriasis, trauma-related nail changes, or another condition.
You have not responded to prior antifungal treatment.

Oral antifungal therapy is being considered and additional confirmation may help guide treatment selection.

If confirmatory testing is needed, our team will advise you on appropriate next steps. In-person evaluation may be recommended when clinically indicated.

Q: How long does treatment take?

Treatment timelines vary depending on the condition, severity, medical eligibility, treatment approach, and patient-specific factors. Toenail improvement can take time because nails grow slowly, and visible improvement may take several months. Tinea pedis may improve faster in some cases, but timelines vary. Your provider can give guidance based on your case when clinically appropriate.

Q: Can I use the topical products if I'm pregnant or breastfeeding?

Please disclose pregnancy or breastfeeding status during your intake. A Florida-licensed provider will consider this information when determining whether telemedicine care, prescription treatment, supportive care, or another next step may be appropriate.

Results & Expectations

Q: How long before I see results?

Toenails grow slowly, and visible improvement may take time. Nail appearance may improve gradually as new nail growth occurs, depending on the condition, treatment approach, adherence, and individual factors. Some patients may notice gradual changes over several months, but results and timelines vary.

Q: Are results guaranteed?

No. Results are not guaranteed and may vary based on individual factors, including condition severity, medical history, treatment approach, adherence, and underlying health conditions. Treatment recommendations and prescription decisions are based on provider review and medical eligibility, but outcomes cannot be guaranteed.

Q: What if the treatment doesn't work?

If you are not seeing expected progress or have concerns during treatment, contact our team. A provider may review your case and determine whether treatment adjustments, additional follow-up, in-person care, or another next step may be appropriate.

Q: Can the infection come back after treatment?

Yes, recurrence can occur with fungal nail and foot conditions. Preventive habits such as proper foot hygiene, breathable footwear, moisture control, and seeking provider-guided care when symptoms return may help reduce recurrence risk. Follow-up guidance may be provided when clinically appropriate.

Conditions

Q: How do I know if I have nail fungus or something else?

Nail discoloration, thickening, and brittleness may be caused by fungal infection, but similar changes can also be associated with psoriasis, nail trauma, certain medications, aging-related nail changes, or other conditions. Provider review can help determine whether telemedicine care, prescription treatment, supportive care, confirmatory testing, in-person care, or another next step may be appropriate.

Q: Can I have both onychomycosis and tinea pedis at the same time?

Yes, onychomycosis and tinea pedis may occur together. Some patients with fungal nail concerns may also have current or previous athlete’s foot. Provider review can help determine whether skin care, nail care, prescription treatment, supportive care, or another next step may be appropriate.

Q: Is nail fungus contagious?

Fungal organisms associated with nail fungus and athlete’s foot may spread through direct contact, shared surfaces, shared footwear, towels, or nail tools. Preventive habits such as wearing sandals in communal wet areas, avoiding shared nail tools, keeping feet dry, and seeking provider-guided care when symptoms persist or worsen may help reduce risk.

Fulfillment & Logistics

Q: How is the treatment delivered?

If prescription treatment is issued and fulfillment is applicable, fulfillment details will be provided after provider review and through an authorized dispensing pharmacy, as applicable. No prescription product is issued, dispensed, or shipped without provider approval and medical eligibility.

Q: How long does shipping take?

Fulfillment timeframes, if applicable, depend on the dispensing pharmacy, prescription approval, and other logistical factors. Our team will provide available fulfillment information when applicable.

Q: What is your return or refund policy?

Due to the nature of prescription products, returns are generally not accepted once dispensed. If you have a concern about your order, contact our team so we can review the issue and provide appropriate next steps. Please review our full Returns & Refunds policy for details.
